Adolescence Problem and Solutions

One of the most common teenager problems is going out. Many teenagers desire to go out at night or in the evening but their parents sometimes refuse. As a result the teenagers resort to violence or anger instead of finding a logical solution. In the next paragraphs I will demonstrate a number of solutions to these problems that parents and teenagers face.

First of all, we need to set an example; a teenager called Jack wants to go to a party at night, but his parents refuse to let him go to it. What Jack can do is sit down with his parents and explain why he desires to go to this party and that it is clean and safe. Maybe a few lies are necessary but there must be truth overall.

Second, Jack could tell his parents to meet the host parents to assure his parents that everything is safe and under control. This is a physical proof since the host parents are proving that the party is safe.

Jack then can make an oath to his parents that he will stay legit and he will not cause trouble. Since the parents will notice his high maturity and dedication, they will allow him to go the party.

Progressivism Relating To Education

Early progressive thinkers such as John Dewey and Lester Ward placed a universal and comprehensive system of education at the top of the progressive agenda, reasoning that if a democracy was to be successful, its leaders, the general public, needed a good education. Progressives worked hard to expand and improve public and private education at all levels. Modernization of society, they believed, necessitated the compulsory education of all children, even if the parents objected. Progressives turned to educational researchers to evaluate the reform agenda by measuring numerous aspects of education, later leading to standardized testing. Many educational reforms and innovations generated during this period continued to influence debates and initiatives in American education for the remainder of the 20th century. One of the most apparent legacies of the Progressive Era left to American education was the perennial drive to reform schools and curricula, often as the product of energetic grass-roots movements in the city.

Since progressivism was and continues to be 'in the eyes of the beholder,' progressive education encompasses very diverse and sometimes conflicting directions in educational policy. Such enduring legacies of the Progressive Era continue to interest historians. Progressive Era reformers stressed 'object teaching,' meeting the needs of particular constituencies within the school district, equal educational opportunity for boys and girls, and avoiding corporal punishment.

The reformers emphasized professionalization and bureaucratization. The old system whereby ward politicians selected school employees was dropped in the case of teachers and replaced by a merit system requiring a college-level education in a normal school (teacher's college). The rapid growth in size and complexity the large urban school systems facilitated stable employment for women teachers and provided senior teachers greater opportunities to mentor younger teachers. By 1900 in Providence, Rhode Island, most women remained as teachers for at least 17.5 years, indicating teaching had become a significant and desirable career path for women.

Globalization

To understand the term of globalization, we must first define it. Globalization is develop or be developed so as to make possible international influence or operation. However we must describe it with our own words so we can simplify and it can have more sense. So in simplified words globalization means to expand or to get expanded so it is possible for international impact.

Globalization has pros and cons, which means it has positive and negative effects. First of all we will talk about the pros of globalization, globalization is very effective because it helped some cultures have better buildings, better appreciation of other cultures. For example, food is a very common aspect of globalization since many countries eat other foreign foods. A very good example would be like someone can be eating noodles in Canada, while in someone in France can be eating classic Italian meatballs. McDonalds for example is an American company, with 31,000 locations worldwide, this is American globalization. Another symbol of globalization would be Chinese symbols in tattoos. Many of today's youth do these tattoos which presents cultural appropriation, a term meaning a culture adopting an element from a different culture. The internet is one of the most strongly growing signs of globalization, many countries and people use easy communication in digital forms. The internet is a big part of cultural globalization because it allows interaction with completely two whole different countries.

Now we will talk about the cons of globalization, which are very common. Globalization has created opposition between many countries and increased inequality. In the Midwestern United States, has consumed the competitive edge in industry and agriculture, which lowered the quality of life in locations that have not obtained that change. Globalization has promoted the flow of information, capital and goods. With this it also spread deadly diseases, it was common from the Middle Ages to this day. Starting with the Black Plague, it was transferred from Asia to Europe, causing devastating results in agriculture, economy and killing 1/3 of Europe's population. Faster transportation allow more people to travel around the world, and airways promote the movement of infectious diseases. AIDS/HIV are excellent examples. Monopoly is very negative in due terms of Globalization, for example 300,000 South African textile workers have lost heir jobs because of the influx of Chinese goods. As much as 3.2 million, 1 in 6 American factory jobs have vanished since the year 2000. Globalization has of course positive and negative aspects from what we observe in the world.

H.F.W (Hussam Farouk Waterways)

Hussam Shabi and Farouk Youssefi

Our company will be focusing on residential yachts, which means that we will be aiming on building large luxurious yachts where it is similar to a house. The large yachts will be available for rent and the offices will be in very famous and rich ports of the Mediterranean. We will practice many common market activities in which we will use them in the payment of our staff, and fund our manufacturing and offices' energy and water. The reason the yachts are for rent is that if it was for sale few people can buy it so the profit will be low and that is not what we are aiming for. Our factory will be in a location where the place charges no port taxes and the assembling location will be in the same place and then we will transport our products to the several ports.

Name of the Company- H.F.W (Hussam Farouk Waterways)

Products of Company- Luxurious Five Star Residential Yachts

Horizontal Nature of the Company- Our strategy is to place our offices in famous and rich ports and cities so we can get the interest of many rich people. Our location is the Mediterranean because it is a very popular place for yachts. It even will draw many rich tourists as well because of the warm sea and the European essence. Cities and Ports we are aiming for are Marseille, Barcelona, Sicily, Athens and maybe Istanbul because of the far distance from the Mediterranean. Our offices will be very good looking and our services will be very professional so we can attract customers and give ourselves a good reputation so more people can come to us. In the European areas we aim for our staff members to know the local language of the office location and English. These strategies will help us dominate the Yacht selling market.

Vertical Nature of the Company- Our factory location as we said will be located in a tax free location, so we chose the location to be Hong Kong. After we manufacture the Yacht parts, we will need a shipping company that will aid us in shipping the products. So we will make a contract with a shipping company that states that the shipping company gets 4% share of the whole rent profit as long as they ship our Yacht parts to the assembling area. When we assemble the Yacht parts in another area in Hong Kong then we will need a shipping company to ship the Yachts to the different Mediterranean ports and cities.

Energy- To acquire the energy for our manufacturing we decided to create a contract with the Chinese government stating that if they reduce the electricity and water bills by 50% then we will give the government a very good reputation and we will back them up and advertise them in every advertisement of ours. We will also mention them in every business situation and in any trading situation. Now when it comes to the offices' energy and water supply we will get the support fund we can collect and attempt to pay the bills, if this is not successful then we will try to make another contract with the different governments.

Raw materials- We will need first class building products to make the Yachts such as premier wood, plastic, and fiberglass is better to build with because of the insurance purposes. We will need strong engines so we had an idea to make a contract with Hummer because they are very weak in the market. This contract will state that if they build us engines we will help them become stronger in the market and give them 3% share of our raw material profits. We will also make agreements with building companies to supply with plaster, cement and other building materials. To get the fuel we will make another contract with the Moroccan based fuel company Afriquia that states that if they supply us with the yacht fuel we will aid them in becoming an international fuel company.

Labor- We will use two maids, two professionally trained Yacht drivers and a possible guide if needed. The offices will be equipped with professionally trained reception employees and other minor employees such as security and maybe a bartender for some snack services in the office. The workers will be speaking the local language of the location of the office and English. The payment plan will be on commission of the rent of the Yachts will be 0.6% of the weekly rent profit, which is a decent payment. We will also provide the workers with health insurances and a proper healthcare system.

Government and Regulations- Some of the possible regulations can be that the government will require special taxes for the office constructions in Europe and special permissions for the port utilization. So we will of course pay with these funds that Mr. Buffet hopefully gives us so we can start operating the business and can withstand the government regulations.

Profits- The profits will come from the rents of the Yachts and the popularity of our company if we operate it well. We will also economize the spending money through the government contracts that were stated above. We also thought about doing charity events to raise money by convincing people and how we can prove to them that we are there ideal renting company.

My goal is to help the poor and orphans of the world now that I'm a millionaire. I aim to build orphanages that are better sanitized and have the materials that benefit the orphans. Then I want to travel to a developing country and offer them a tour on one of my yachts. I will also donate money to orphanages and donate food and water to the poor populations. If it is possible to do, I will organize a charity event where the poor and the rich can come, and all of us can put our differences aside. After all of this I aim to support the atmosphere, meaning I will try to supply our yachts with biofuel instead of the polluting fuel. I will also try to make safety barriers to the rudder so to protect the marine life.

"Did Morocco have any recent revolutions?" discussion with family.

As I spent time discussing with my family about the recent revolutions that occurred in Morocco, I learnt that there were advancements and no advancements. Some of the technological developments were evident since improvements in transportation became more modern (e.g. buses). In these recent years new projects were announced about building a subway system, tram system and new entertainment areas. More foreign products started to appear on the market, both Moroccan civilian markets and the Moroccan stock market.
There are many negative aspects of Morocco, and these of course tend to be more than the positive aspects. Morocco still has poor sanitation in the buses and robbery is very possible. Since robbery is very high the subway system will be a very common trap for pedestrians. The unemployment rate is high and there are many beggers in the streets. Corruption is widespread such as bribery and policemen do not stop bribery but promote it. The street condition is very poor in cleanliness and stray animals roam the streets freely. There are still products that could benefit us but they are not yet present in Morocco. Overall, my family and I think that Morocco is not yet in a position where it is possible to have a revolution. There were some advancements in technology, industry and business but not the base progress that we really need. Morocco still has some years to catch up on and some more effort. It is not the country that is like this, it is the people. If the people worked harder to improve their country, then it will be better.

Socratic Seminar Analysis

One of the most significant point of the Seminar is how the consultants mold and harness the answer of someone into a more accurate, enhanced and more specific idea. Also the ability to debate in an organized way and how they found an opposing idea to many theories that were stated. Some of us helped move the dialogue forward by introducing an idea and soon the others started "chewing" on that new theory as well. Some debates occurred when some consultants took sides on what they felt was right; however the group then came with an answer that reflected both of the consultant's ideas that proposed neutrality. Some consultants came up with ideas that they backed up strongly against any contradicting theory from any other consultant. The group then accepted ideas from external people (audience) and improved them consistently. Constant eye contact and instant answering after a speaker proved to me that some listened and analyzed carefully and creatively. Normally the students would not listen to a useless fact, however the reason some people listened to opinion change, was that some had theoretical evidence.

I would say that the worst part of the seminar was that there was a small group of consultants in the 1st group, thus less information was introduced. The 2nd group was larger and thus had more ideas introduced. The best part however is that I learned a lot of new information and also refined my own theories into more accurate ideas. I would like the dialogue type of Seminar modified into a debate situation where the consultants propose their ideas and others will oppose them; this would give us more ideas to learn.

Greece Massive Debt to EU

WHO: EU finance ministers are pressing their indebted and riot-prone Balkan member to embrace a massive austerity plan and plug its debilitating deficit. But with markets skeptical and the appetite for more bailouts at a low, there are deepening concerns that a Greek meltdown could deal a severe blow to the very European idea of a common currency, and set off a domino effect through Italy, Spain, and Portugal.

On Tuesday, some European Union leaders said they were confident that Greece would pull itself out its debt crisis under a plan submitted by Prime Minister George Papandreou, who promises to cut expenditure and tighten the country's notoriously leaky tax system.

When:On Monday, the 16 countries that use the euro announced an overhaul of how euro nations coordinate their economies, with formal warnings for states that running much higher inflation or average wages than their neighbors.

What: Stannard cited the risk of investors losing their appetite for Greek bonds, 70 percent of which are held by foreigners. "If foreign investors from outside the eurozone start to turn their back on Greek assets, this will have a significant negative impact on the euro."

Bigger, better off countries such as Germany would be faced with leading a bailout, but it's not certain that their leaders — or voters — would agree. Meanwhile, other countries with heavy debt loads — Spain, Italy, Portugal, Ireland — would have to pay more to borrow if investors flee government bonds because of Greece.

Why: Greece is implementing the debt reduction measures and seek the power to audit Greek statistics — which the EU says have been falsified under political pressure in the past.

Papandreou is saying the right things to calm markets, but it is uncertain that he can push them through in a country where many look to the government as a jobs provider, and where political unrest can easily boil over into confrontations on the streets — as they did in December 2008 rioting after police shot a 15-year-old boy.

How important: Greece's two largest trade union groups are threatening strikes to protest the government's efforts which they say are unfair measures that target the poor instead of the rich.
